New Website for North Midlands RFU is launched
We have now launched, with the help of 29-Design, our brand new website which we hope will be easier to both navigate and locate information. Please do encourage your members to use this facility for information and with all things new, if you can’t find something or see something that needs changing, please do let us know – it is still work in progress – https://northmidsrfu.co.uk
Sport England’s Head of Coaching and Professional Workforce, Stuart Armstrong to deliver at North Midlands ‘Community of Practice’ Evening at Newman University on Wednesday 15th November
As we reflect on an incredible 2023 World Cup we are treated to highlight reels of elite level ‘skill execution’ from some of the world’s best rugby players. Match analysis has enabled us to scrutinise and understand particular game strategies and a number of associated skills. However, are we utilising the best coaching methods for developing players skill levels? With this in mind now is the perfect time to review our coaching process and consider how we can equip players across all playing levels with the necessary skills (which regularly require adapting due to progressive law changes) to be effective.
To provide the most up to date information on developing sports skills, Dr Alex Powell of Birmingham Newman University and the North Midlands RFU, will be hosting Stuart Armstrong who will deliver a coach education evening at 7:00pm on Wednesday 15th November. Stuart is the current Head of Coaching and Professional Workforce for Sport England and has held previous roles such as Head of player Development & Rugby Growth (RFU) and Coaching in Talent and High Performance Manager for UK Coaching. Stuart’s knowledge and long service in developing talented coaches and athletes will benefit all attending coaches. The session is titled ‘Forget everything you thought you knew about coaching’. He will discuss some of the traditional methods, misconceptions and then propose best practice for coaching skill development.
