| Worcester Wanderers are mourning James Coomber, a former player and president of the club, who has died suddenly.Coomber first player rugby at his prep school, the Wells House in Malvern Wells where he became the school captain before he moved to Cheltenham College.
After he left school he joined the Worcester based family electronic engineering company, FW Coomber and Son, and settled in Worcester. He first played for Worcester when they were based at the Bevere ground and continued his involvement when they moved to their present headquarters at Sixways. He played in the back-row and extended his playing career into Worcester’s lower teams after his first XV days were over. He remained a loyal club member and was honoured to be elected president of Worcester Wanderers for a two year term of office. |
