| Shropshire, the defending RLF Three Counties Championship champions, beat Worcestershire & Herefordshire 35-24 in their opening match of this season’s competition at Kings Norton this evening.The match, a re-run of last season’s final, produced a free-flowing and end-to-end contest in which Shropshire held off a second half fightback by the hosts.
Shropshire were 32-12 up at half-time but a penalty from wing Ashley Paterson (Newport) insured them against the Two Counties’ rally. Worcestershire & Herefordshire took the lead when wing Jack Fairhurst (Moseley Oak) crossed for the first of his two tries with Dean Powell of Hereford adding the conversion. |
