Dear Clubs,
Following on from registering your interest with taking part in the North Midlands 2nd team Cup Competition 2023, please see below the agreed format how the competition will run.
Please note – In order for fairness throughout, players who have played 7 or more 1st XV games are not eligible to play in the in 2nd team cup, respect each other to allow the competition to be a success.
Games where possible to be played on the following dates in conjunction with the other 1st XV competitions.
- 18th March
- 25th, March
- 1st April
- 15th April
- 22nd April
- 29th April
- The final – 7th May – Ground TBC
These dates are subject to cancellations due to the elements.
The format agreed are round robins for clubs in Groups 1 and 2, with 4 pts for a win with try bonus point for 4 tries and a losing bonus if losing by 7 pts or less. Winners of group go into draw for semi-finals with runners up going into draw for Plate.
For groups 3 and 4 clubs will play home and away and aggregate score will be taken. Winners will go into semi-finals draw and second place in the Plate.
If teams are tied on points number of tries could determine the winners. If still tied, the away side of that game will go through.
