This years annual Primary School Girls Tag Rugby Festival was held at Kings Norton RFC Hopwood Park grounds on Tuesday 12th November. There were fourteen teams taking part from eleven local primary schools, Kings Norton, Hawkesley, St John Bosco, Tiverton, Bournville, The Medows, West Heath, St Marys, Hollywood, St Laurence and St John Fisher. There were two groups and the results were as follows:-
Cup: 1st – Meadows, 2nd – Bosco, 3rd – St. Mary’s
Plate: 1st – Kings Norton, 2nd – Bosco, 3rd – St. John Fisher.
All the girls taking part were awarded medals for representing their schools at the festival.
The benefits of the festival are better summed up by one of the organisers Mr Craig Ellicott ”It was brilliant to walk back at the end and see the St John Fisher team with huge smiles for their team photo, and I’ve since had a lovely email from Hollywood saying how much fun they had. Great to hear.”
Kings Norton RFC want to say a special thank you to the Children and Staff at St John Bosco who presented the Rhinos Junior President Ron Bunce with a cheque in support of the Clubs efforts to purchase the adjacent field, a project the club has named ”Field of Dreams”.
The Photo shows Ron receiving the Cheque from St John Bosco Team Captain, her fellow pupils from the school and their Teacher Mr Ellicott.
