The 2022 Pitch Up follows the successful 2021 campaign when close to 600 Pitch Up events were hosted by clubs nationwide. With the returning programme, we hope it will help attract even more players, coaches, match officials and volunteers to your club for the upcoming season. Feedback from last season suggested:
- 95% clubs wanted to take part again next year.
- 82% of clubs said their event was a success.
- 75% clubs over 25 players taking part (56% with over 50).
Pitch Up 2022 will take place over the weekend of 17/18th September. We hope to see you all participating as we come together to celebrate the new season. To support the promotion of your event we will once again created some marketing resources and activation guides that can be found England Rugby resources page.
As the game continues to rebuild following the pandemic, clubs have told us that two key audiences: Age grade player moving into adult rugby & older male players are key to improving playing numbers and support match completion. Therefore, in addition to the Pitch up support, this year we will be running our national adult recruitment and retention campaign, ‘Play Together, Stay Together,’ which will focus on two key groups of players. Our thanks go to The National Lottery, who will again be supporting Pitch Up For Rugby weekends, helping to raise awareness of events and encouraging more players back to clubs.
