With reference to the latest Community Game Update (Friday 16th October) you will note that the RFU are offering ‘free’ membership to the RFU Schools Union. Whilst probably not particularly inspirational in itself may I suggest that it may be an “opening” to encourage a dialogue with a local school and potentially promote an ongoing working relationship! It is very much appreciated that volunteer time and resources are being stretched, however, perhaps it would be worth ‘cluster’ groups of Clubs considering a collaboration.
The attached spreadsheet, obtained from the RFU, details ‘all’ Schools registered in the North Midlands County area and for ease I have endeavoured to separate these into the three Domestic Unions. Those Clubs highlighted in green are already ‘active’ with the Schools Union.
Regarding membership to the RFU County Schools Union the main benefits are:
- Entry to ticket ballot for Twickenham (when there are matches)
- Entry to National Schools competition
- Access to some of the volunteer training and awards the schools union run, such as teacher development days.
- CSUs may offer more opportunities locally.
