Assistant Coach/Player Coach
Woodrush RFC.
Due to the relocation of the previous coach, Woodrush RFC are looking to appoint an Assistant Coach/ Player Coach for the 2021/22 season to take responsibility for attack/ defence/ forwards/ backs (area to be decided upon appointment and depending on expertise).
The appointed coach will work alongside the Head Coach, Dave Hawkins, and Senior Captain Tom Wagg.
Current players who are seeking to combine development of a Coach whilst also contributing as a player, those looking to take their first steps into coaching and experienced coaches are all invited to apply. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop as a coach in a forward thinking and positive environment that values development and feedback. A current coaching qualification of L1, or above is desirable, but not essential. The commitment to personal growth, development and an openness to feedback is important.
We are looking for an individual with an ability to connect across various factions and who is able to further develop connections with local universities and multi sports establishments to strengthen our presence in the local area.
Currently running a 1st XV in Midlands 3 West (South) and a 2nd XV in the Greater Birmingham Merit League. The Club benefits from a diverse player population with a young 1st XV. The club also operate a highly successful Women’s and a burgeoning youth section. The club’s facilities are fantastic, including a RFU supported floodlight and pitch refurbishment in 2019. The Woodrush members are a welcoming bunch, who put the club at the heart of all they do and are fully supportive of the clubs desire to improve.
As part of the role, you will:
- Attend 2 training sessions per week and attend senior fixtures on a Saturday
- Lead on the agreed aspect of team play/ structure and plan training sessions accordingly
- Work closely with the Head Coach and Leadership Team to devise and implement a winning strategy
- Support player retention and recruitment
- Deputise for the Head Coaches as and when needed
- Support the coaching of the Women’s and Mini and Junior’s sections at various points throughout the season
