Maul Together Complete John O’Groats to Land’s End!
Over £50,000 Raised for Charity!
Maul Together are a Bridgnorth rugby club based fundraising team, spreading the rugby ethos and team spirit to charities and individuals that need it most.
We are a group of local rugby players coming to the end of our playing days, so we have decided it is time to apply some of the hard work, dedication and commitment to something new. As we all know, the game of rugby provides a huge family and network of support to help players through many of life’s challenges. Unfortunately, not everyone is lucky enough to have this support network and it is our passion to help offer this to those that need it most.
The first Maul Together challenge was cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End from 23rd to 31st July 2021. The challenge was 9 Days, 972 Miles, 55,665ft Elevation which took 69hrs 36 Minutes.
Maul Together is raising money for their selected 2021 charities – My Name’5 Doddie Foundation & Matt Hampson Foundation. You can donate at: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/MaulTogether
The challenge was an extremely tough test physically and mentally but the tight ethos of the team pulled everyone together to get over the line and complete the mammoth ride. It was a great experience with many life long memories made from the scenic views of the Scottish Cairngorms National Park, seeing so many family and friends when we rode into Bridgnorth RFC on day 6 and the achievement of completing the ride at Land’s End. The most special part was to successfully raise over £50,000 for 2 amazing charities who both do so much amazing work supporting those with life changing illness & injuries.
The Maul Together team are now onto to planning their next challenge for 2022 – watch this space…
My Name’s Doddie Foundation – The Foundation invests in research to find meaningful treatments and work towards finding a cure for motor neuron disease. It supports people with MND and their families, to help them live as fulfilled a life as possible.
Matt Hampton Foundation – The Matt Hampson Foundation inspires and supports young people seriously injured through sport. Through expert physiotherapy, specialist personal training, support, mentoring and advice, the Foundation helps people with life-changing.
